What is the V2X model?

V2X means Vehicle to Everything, The meaning of everything here is all the possible objects that can come across in the surroundings of the vehicle while the vehicle is driving or motionless sometimes, and there is a need for data transmission from vehicles to other nodes exist in a short-range or large-range.

V2X Ecosystem has specific types of communication subsystems. The main motive of the V2X Ecosystem is traffic control & road safety and energy saving. But when we understand all the communication subsystems of the V2X model. We can recognize the many real-time use cases that can be helpful in various conditions.

Let’s understand the different types of communication subsystems in the V2X model.

V2V — Vehicle to Vehicle

V2V

Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) communication is about information sharing with other vehicles surrounding.

  • Driver Assistance.
  • Direction and route Suggestions.
  • Avoiding crashes.

  • Vehicle-to-vehicle secured data transmission.
  • Vehicle-to-road sensor secure data transmission.

V2D — Vehicle to Devices

V2D

Vehicle Devices (V2D) communication incorporates information sharing among Vehicle and Other encompassing computers. V2D communication facilitates the two-wheeled devices.

  • Traffic control.
  • Two-wheeler rider assistance and alert.
  • Avoiding crashes.

V2D system infrastructure needs →

  • Vehicle to device secured data transmission.
  • Road sensor to device secure data transmission and vise versa.

V2N — Vehicle to Network

V2N

Vehicle Network (V2N) communication provides information sharing for vehicles to the network using Broadcasting and Unicasting messages.

  • Preventive Warning alerts in prioress on the planned route.
  • Avoiding crashes and congestion.
  • Many more alerts in prioress in several conditions.
  • Route-specific driving rules alerts, and warnings.

V2N system infrastructure needs →

V2N is not for communicating directly to any other vehicle or device.

  • Vehicle to network server secure data transmission.
  • Network server to vehicles and devices messages broadcast and unicast.
  • Large range message transmission.

V2I — Vehicle to Infrastructure

V2I

Vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) Communications require a data transmission from vehicle to road infrastructure. The Road Infrastructure can have computers in various places like traffic lights, lane markers, Road Turns, Road Signs, Pedestrian Path, Fuel Stations, etc.

V2I Communication Advantages in Realtime →

  • Vehicle to Infrastructure is the need for a Connected Car System. The Advantage is that the Vehicle has Road Infrastructure, which provides a warning, Alerts, Suggestions, and Important Information on every round of wheels. It takes the vehicle’s AR features to an advanced level.

V2N system infrastructure needs →

  • Two-way communication between Vehicle and Road Infrastructure Computers.

V2C — Vehicle to Cloud

V2C

Vehicle-to-cloud communication works on a principle called NaaS (Network as a service).

It says that automobile users have a vehicle connected with cloud service providers for various services.

  • Over-the-air (OTA) updates for vehicle software.
  • Vehicle status tracking.
  • Bidirectional communication with home devices.
  • Bidirectional communication with digital assistants.

V2P — Vehicle to Pedestrian

V2P

Vehicle to Pedestrian (V2P) is a new subset of the V2X ecosystem This approach provides the interaction between the Vehicle to the nearby pedestrian.

Another way we can say the communication between vehicles to surrounded handheld devices.

  • Avoid the possible collision.

V2P system infrastructure needs →

  • Vehicle-to-pedestrian communication required V2I and V2D communications.
  • Overall V2P communication can be covered when handheld computers are associated with V2D communication, and few V2I computers are also communicating with handheld computers.

V2G — Vehicle to Grid

V2G

Vehicle to Grid (V2G) is a new segment of the V2X society.

The idea of vehicle-to-grid (V2G) is that electric vehicles (EVs) communicate with the smart grid to sell request-response services by passing electric power to the grid.

  • The next-gen electric grid will be able to balance loads and decrease utility bill expenses.
  • The bidirectional charging/discharging is based on the load.

  • Continuous monitoring of EV status.
  • Data transmission from EVs to Grid.
